MILEY CYRUS WRECKING BALL

Salut!

Okay i'm not french. Don't know whether that was obvious or not. Oh and I don't speak french either, although I have picked it for a GCSE so i should be good, but i'm really not. Okay I've gone of on a complete tangent now. Focus Nik, focus.

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking ball. Hmm...where to begin. Well, I think it's only fair to start with the song itself. Now personally I don't think the song is that bad :/. I know it's Miley Cyrus so that should be enough to make you not like it but the piano riff at the start is just so infectious! And the licks (Oh irony) in her voice on the first verse are absolutely brilliant. It's very different to her dull repetitive 'We Can't Stop'. It's a song about a relationship that has broken down, and Miley is basically stating that it is her fault. The lyrics are clever with the references to the 'wrecking ball', but are still very basic and 'pop-esque' if you will. Although throughout the song it is very hard to understand what Miley is actually saying. However the actual 'sound' of the song is decent. It' a brilliant song for easy listening and just a random on the spur moment. it's a lot better than any of Miley's previous works. I think Hannah Montana would be impressed.

Okay...now on to the bit that everyone actually cares about. *Sighs* The music video. I literally have no idea where to start. I guess the first shot we see. Miley is just standing against a white background, and the camera is zoomed in onto her face. She is crying which you can tell is very staged and makes me feel uncomfortable? I don't know if anyone else experienced this. And i'm sorry but all I can look at is the saliva in her mouth. It's very distracting. The video then goes to Miley in a room with 3 walls. It's rather odd how she is jut walking around with a hammer, which instead of using for hammering, she seems to think it is a mans genitalia and starts licking it, which also makes me feel uncomfortable  because I can't tell whether I like it or not. Anyways, as the chorus hits a huge wrecking ball swings in and smashes the wall. Which you would think is normal, but remember this is Miley so there has to be some sort of crazy, porn twist on it. Miley then appears on the ball but-naked! Which is rather, shall we say...odd? Miley then seems to have no bra on as you can see her nipples right through the 'top' (which is more like a very loose-fitting piece of clothe) she is wearing. Her attire is very similar to the one she wore in the 'We Can't Stop' video. I just want to know how Miley managed to find a wrecking ball, then sit on it naked and swing freely. The video is basically the same shots, swinging naked on a ball, sucking the soul out of a hammer, writhing in a pile of rubble and a few 'tears' (eyedrops) fall from her eyes.

If i'm honest I don't really know what I think of the music video as it is a simple and basic concept  which is unique and clever, but apart from the wrecking ball and the lyric 'All I wanted was to break your walls' there is no connection to the song. Its a decent video, but not for the song. She could of made it classy and made the video represent the music more than her incredibly toned stomach. I think Miley's videos are more to promote herself rather than the music, which is sad really because you think she would want to focus peoples attention on the music. However this video just puts the spotlight on her. BUT one great thing about the video is that...THERE'S NOT ONE 'TWERK' FROM MILEY IN SIGHT!!! PRAISE DA LORD.

Overall I think the video is very weak for the song and doesn't really justify it. I rate it two Niks out of five.
(As this is my first blog post you may wonder what 'Niks' are. They are just my own little rendition of stars haha ;)

I'll leave a link below if you want to be made feel confused, aroused, uncomfortable and even more so uncomfortable!

Have a nice day or night or whatever time period it is wherever you are.
GUUUUDBYE :)
